Interesting that they stress that the betrothal was not the idea, and doesn't exactly capture the nature of their connection. It feels realistic, but also ship-deflating, and like an odd gesture towards the aforementioned Purity? Or like, to avoid tainting Nihuang with ever having felt romantically attracted to two people, in the whole course of her life, when one's been presumed dead for twelve years. (Come on.)
